Another video complete! Personally, I had a blast making this one. We were tasked to create a video encapsulating the 180 rule in film-making, using a limited series of clips. For this video, I mainly focused on mastering the 180 rule. To do this, I made sure the characters speaking were on the same side each time, and didn't move about (angle-wise) to confuse the audience. The difficulty of making this video at first came with creativity. I was really struggling to figure out what to do, creatively, for the video (especially given how boring the joke was and the limited clips to select from).
Then, it hit me; I should make a trailer based off the joke and scenario. So, I did. What you see above is the finished project.

For this assignment, we were tasked in creating an edited video with royalty free videos, in comparison to still-images. Videos, in a way, were a bit harder to work with in the sense of having to correctly pick effects and transitions to tie each together, as well as time it to the audio appropriately. As for technique, it was reliability the same to piece the together the video, it simply needed more thought put in.
To make my video, I first chose a theme to run with. The first one I came up with was elevators. This worked out in my favor, as I found several videos of the same women riding an elevator. I downloaded each video and slapped them in Premiere. Once in the software, I added them to my timeline and ordered them in the way I'd like, then trimmed them down. It was once I had them ordered and trimmed, did I pick audio and effects to enhance the video. With the audio added in, I adjusted the pacing of each to fit, and finally added effects. The main effects were those of fades to weave in and out of clips. Overall, I would say that I don't mind the software. While it isn't hard to get the hang of in terms of how the software works, I would definitely say that it would get easier with practice and better knowledge of effects and such.
This is our first project in Premiere Pro: a video with a singular color. This project allowed me to get familiar with the basics of Premiere.
To make the video, I downloaded several royalty-free images and imported them into the program. Then, I dragged them into the timeline and adjusted their lengths by holding and dragging the ends of the clips. To make the text, I used the text tool. As for the movement, I used a handful of effects and keyframes to get the text to move down through the video. Overall, the main difficult thing in Premiere was getting used to the setup and commands and tools, as it is quite different from Photoshop or Illustrator. Generally, it was quite simple, in terms of lengthening and adjusting the elements in the timelines. My overall thoughts would be that the software is not too bad, just that I need to get used to the setup and such.. |
