This task was to create a menu using several tools in Illustrator, including the mesh tool, pen tool, shape-builder tool (for the menu items), and the text tool (mainly for the menu itself).
As for the menu, the elements of it that I am most proud of would have to be the burger, due to its complexity, and original logo I created which really brings the whole thing together. In the creation of the final product, I learned how to appropriately combine skills and the different, aforementioned tools to create a unique masterpiece. |
While this painting was created roughly a year ago at this point, I am still quite proud of it, so much so, that I decided to include it in this portfolio.
This painting was created with oil paints and I am particularly proud of the textures I was able to create in the piece. I made the textures with a variety of painting techniques and brush stroke types. I also enjoyed the variety of colors I mixed for this painting. The formation of these colors and such made me really dive deeper into color theory and composition. This piece is truly one of my favorites and showcases the wonders and soothing elements of nature. |
In this project, I was tasked in picking a typeface and creating a poster of sorts with it, including a history of it and the characters and fonts it has. For this project, I picked Algerian, which, to me, looks very vintage and almost reminds me of those old circus tickets. So, that is where I ran with this idea, as you can see.
To make the ticket base itself, I used the shape builder tool, and for the text, I used, wouldn't you guess it, the text tool. To make the text curved, and the layout more appealing, I used the warp tool and the 'text on a path' tool. I am pretty proud of this project because of its aesthetic appeal and how it helped me build my skills with the text tool. |
For this project, I was tasked with creating four icons of varying complexity. These icons are all supposed to summarize a book of our choosing. I picked one of my favorite reads: The Book Thief. This classic book is set in WW2, Germany, in a small, fictional town by the name of Molching. Our main character, Liesel Meminger, has been recently taken in by her foster parents, the Hubermanns. She is taught to read by her foster father, Hans, and soon ends up stealing books to read them, in opposition of Hitler's rules and obligations. Her life takes an even more interesting turn when her foster parents end up hiding a Jew in their basement...
To create these icons, I used previous skills and tools learned, such as the pen tool and the shape builder tool. I am particularly proud at how these icons turned out, yet more specifically the accordion, especially since it was such a weird shape. Overall, I really had fun with this project and would absolutely do it again if I had the chance. |
